“The red line was combining my academic occupation and political career. In early days, some older male professors said I had to choose. But for me, I knew I needed this to fully develop myself. […] I think it was also what we call ‘recognition and rewards’ in an early stage’” said Professor Annelien Bredenoord, Rector of Erasmus University Rotterdam, when discussing her journey to the top.
