A £4 million mini-factory for developing the next generation of miniaturised medical devices and robots officially opened this week.

The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne has just opened the doors to a new national robotics research centre that aims to usher in a new era of robots, designed to do useful things in ordinary circumstances.

Created to be for robots what Windows has been for the PC, Jean-Christophe Baillie’s company Gostai is leapfrogging the chasm between lab and markets.
