The UK has set out a plan to lure high-performers into research careers and to attract top researchers into the country.

The European Parliament has formally adopted the European Qualifications Framework, clearing the way for a system that will make it easier to compare qualifications from one country to another.

A new fund to attract international researchers and encourage greater collaboration between UK and overseas scientists was announced by science minister Ian Pearson.
