Awards winners are selected through a two-step judging process. On 24 April 2013, a high-level selection committee consisting of representatives from academia, industry and venture capital met in Brussels and selected two finalists in each category. The ACES finalists were invited to join the ACES conference to be held on 4 June 2013 in the European Parliament. After participating in a training session, finalists are given a unique opportunity to present their business during an “elevator-pitch” in front of the audience and the members of the final jury, the Science|Business Innovation Board.
