The European Health Data Space enters into force this month, promising benefits for research, clinical trials and AI model training

The European Health Data Space (EHDS) will finally enter into force on March 26, but there is a lot of hard work ahead before researchers and companies are able to reap the full benefits of improved data access.
EU states will have four years to put the necessary infrastructure, governance and processes in place before provisions on data sharing take effect. How that time is used will be vital to the success of the initiative, which is the first of several sector-specific EU data spaces.
