EU Joint Research Centre opens up its data stores

06 Jul 2017 | News

All the data produced by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) is now available to external users.

The Joint Research Centre has opened up its research data, setting up an online data catalogue via which scientists, policy makers, journalists and other users can get quick access to all JRC’s research outputs.

The catalogue currently lists 1,629 datasets from 44 dataset collections  on topics including agriculture and food security, economy, environment and climate, health and consumer protection.

The catalogue feeds into the EU open data portal, which is the single point of access to a growing range of data produced by the EU institutions.

By providing easy and free access to data, the portal is intended both to highlight the potential economic power of the data and increase transparency and accountability of EU institutions.

The data can be used for further research, reproduced and shared, provided the source is cited.
