The Women's Institute for Equal Opportunities and the Spanish Confederation of Employers' Associations (CEOE) have announced the fifth edition of the Promociona Project – Executive Programme for Women in Upper Management.
The objective of this initiative, co-funded by the European Social Fund, is to increase women's representation in top executive positions. The project also aims to identify and promote female talent by developing and strengthening women's capacities, professional skills and leadership, while also raising awareness in the business world. To date, nearly 300 female executives from more than 200 companies have taken part in the project, and 25% of participants from the first three editions have received a promotion.
The participating companies – which are responsible for selecting and supporting their candidates – play a very active role in the Promociona Project. In this role, the companies agree to continue active promotion and to provide access to senior executives, who serve as mentors to the other participants in the programme.
Each edition of the Promociona Project features the participation of different "patrons" – high-profile figures from the business world – such as Marcos de Quinto, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of the Coca-Cola Company (2013-2014); Ignacio Garralda, President of Mutua Madrileña, and Patricia Abril, President and General Manager of McDonald's Spain (2014-2015); Belén Frau, CEO of IKEA Italy, and José Crehueras, President of the Planeta Group and Atresmedia (2015-2016); and Maria Helena Antolín, Vice President of the Antolín Group, and Luis de Torres, former President of Sodexo Iberia (until October 2016) and current CEO of Sodexo LatAm & Brazil (2016-2017).
How to participate in Promociona
To be eligible to participate in the Promociona Project – Executive Programme for Women in Upper Management, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Currently occupy a position of responsibility
- Have 15 years of professional experience
- Hold an advanced university degree
- Have an intermediate to high level of English
- Have the company's support and commitment to participate in the project (submission of a signed "Organisation's letter of commitment”)
Once selected, participants will undergo a 360º assessment and complete a training period at ESADE Business & Law School, where they will strengthen their management and leadership abilities. They will also take part in professional networking activities and individual executive coaching sessions, as well as a cross-mentoring process.
The Women's Institute for Equal Opportunities and the Spanish Confederation of Employers' Associations (CEOE) are co-funding 45 spots in the programme. Priority will be given to eligible candidates presented by companies participating in "More Women, Better Companies”, an initiative of the Spanish Ministry of Health, Social Affairs and Equality designed to encourage balanced participation of women and men in the upper ranks of management, provided that the company has not already benefited from this opportunity in a previous edition of the programme. In addition, 5% of spots will be reserved for eligible candidates who have a disability rating of 33% or higher.
Applications must be submitted by 10th May.
