UCL and Fujitsu come together in support of Satalia

Two of the partners in the package of business support launched by Prime Minister David Cameron on Monday 28th March have announced a collaboration that will support a promising new technology company that they believe demonstrates the value of coming together in support of new entrepreneurs.

Fujitsu, a leading global technology services company, and UCL one of the top universities in the world, are both backing Satalia.

Satalia, based in London, will launch their innovative service through Fujitsu's cloud computing platform. The company is a spin-out from the computer science department at UCL. Satalia specialises in solving hard optimisation problems using their proprietary 'Solve Engine' technology with applications in a broad range of sectors - from pharmaceutical to chip design. The company is already working with a leading telecoms company, a chip-design business and has support from the Technology Strategy Board to investigate security applications.

The new collaboration between Fujitsu and Satalia demonstrates the valuable support on offer to early stage companies. Fujitsu’s Start Up Britain[1] offering, which goes live on the 16th May, will allow SMEs to deliver the optimum blend of cloud and privately owned IT, in an affordable package that will encourage and support the growth of new UK businesses. UCL is supporting new companies launching from the country’s leading universities by delivering a pilot programme called Start Up Summer[2], in partnership with You Gov PLC and Imperial College London.
