SMEs invited to bid for new FET funding

18 Nov 2010 | News

The European Commission’s Future and Emerging Technologies Open Scheme (FET-Open) is looking for bids from high-tech, research intensive SMEs to lead projects in multi-disciplinary areas of science and technology.

The call is expected to be addressed by proposals with at least one high-tech research intensive SME in the consortium, and requesting a total grant in the order of €1 million, where the largest share of the resources is allocated to the participating SME(s).

The SMEs are expected to position themselves as a bridge between novel science and marketable ideas.

As FET puts it, “This new call targets SMEs who know they have a chance to capture the future, and want to work alongside some of the brightest minds in science and technology to make it happen.”

The FET programme is not seeking short-term commercial outcomes. This call does therefore not support incremental improvement of existing technology, mainstream research aimed at short-term product or service development, the incremental improvement of existing lines of business activity, research aimed to catch-up with the competition, foresighting or market studies, or the development of new business models or business plans.

More information on FET activities relating to high-tech research intensive SMEs can be found on the FET-Open web site or by contacting [email protected]
