PAS-Analytik raises €550K for photoaccoustic technology

20 Oct 2010 | News

High-Tech Gründerfonds and MAZ level one are to invest €550,000 in PAS-Analytik for the further development of the company’s laser-based photoacoustics technology for use in industrial and medical gas analysis.

PAS-Analytik was spun out of Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg in 2009 to develop, manufacture and distribute spectroscopic gas sensors based on the principle of photoacoustics.

Laser-based photoacoustics allows the direct detection of gas particles, reducing the number of components and making PAS-Analytik’s sensors simple and compact. Use of laser technology even makes it possible to differentiate between various isotopes of the same gas. Short detection periods also make online measurement possible.

MAZ level one specialises in providing finance and advice to very young technology companies in northern Germany, getting involved as early as the start-up phase or shortly after.
