Napatech gets $5M from VCs to buy Xyratex's network adapter unit

Napatech, a Danish company that specialised in raising the speed of Internet network appliances, said it has received $5 million from Ferd Venture, Northzone Ventures and existing shareholder DTU Innovation, a fund which is related to the Danish Technical University.

Napatech, a Danish company that specialised in raising the speed of Internet network appliances, said it has received $5 million from Ferd Venture, Northzone Ventures and existing shareholder DTU Innovation, a fund which is related to the Danish Technical University.

Napatech said the money will be used for purchasing the network adapter business of Xyratex, a provider of data storage subsystems and network technology for business. Xyratex was founded in 1994 with headquarters in the U.K.

Napatech's technologies enable OEM (original equipment manufacturer) customers to scale network monitoring appliances, traffic analysers and recorders, testers and security products to the Ethernet speeds and traffic load, according to a statement. Napatech's product portfolio includes a 1Gb and a 10Gb platform. The company was founded in 2003 and based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
