Oxxius, a French manufacturer of
compact lasers, said it raised an additional €8 million in its second
financing round - on top of €2.4 million raised earlier.
Funding was led by existing shareholder Sofinnova Partners, joined by AXA Private Equity and San Francisco-based Soffinova Ventures.
The company, a four-year-old startup at one France's small tech clusters in Lannion, Brittany, was co-founded by CEO Thierry Georges, a former laser researcher at France Telecom and founder of another start-up, Algety Telecom, which was eventually sold to Corvis Corp. Oxxius, in a statement, said it would use the funds to scale up production and marketing of its range of lasers for sale to instrumentation companies.
