Cellexus Biosystems plc has raised £400,000 in a private placing to accelerate the commercialisation of its disposable bioreactor technology. The company, based in March, Cambridgeshire has now raised £900,000 since its formation in December 2005.

Cellexus’ technology offers considerable advantages to biopharmaceutical manufacturers, as the remove the need to clean down equipment between process runs, not only saving time, but eliminating many quality control issues. In addition, the reactors are designed to promote natural circulation of the reactants, removing the need for process mixtures to be mechanically stirred.
