The object of the invention is a phase-sensitive low-coherence interferometric (OLCIOptical Low-Coherence Interferometer) setup.

The proposed signal component separator can be employed both in integrated and offchip LINC transmitters. The application field of these transmitters are mobile telephony (GSM-EDGE and UMTS) and, in general, wireless networks like 802.11a/b/g standards and in the next future the WiMAX standard. These transmitters are employed both for personal use (cell phones, notebooks) and in the base stations.

In the former application, thanks to the transmitter’s high efficiency, it’s possible to extend the battery life. In the latter application, it facilitates the thermal design of the system.
