New portal for Dutch life science tech transfer

26 Apr 2008 | Network Updates

Five Dutch institutions, working with TNO, the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research, have launched a Business to Science Portal to provide one central contact point for knowledge-related questions from enterprises in the province of South Holland.

The portal comes from Leiden University, the Leiden Medical Center, Delft University of Technology and the Erasmus Medical Center, which have come together in an initiative called Medical Delta. It will focus on SMEs in life sciences and medical technology.

The institutions behind the portal will approach the companies in the region individually to gauge their specific need for new knowledge – then develop the knowledge needed for innovation. “This is a new approach for the Netherlands, but in Great Britain, Oxford and Edinburgh are examples of places where this formula has proved to be very successful,” said the institutions in a press release.
