Funding round completed
Qosmos, a spin-out from the LIP6 Computer Research Laboratory at the Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris, will develop its Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technology using €7 million raised from a third financing round.
DPI technology is a computer network packet filtering system which detects and extracts information from IP networks in real-time. Qosmos’ proprietary ixDPI technology can monetise as well as track cross-network information. Network service providers, systems integrators and software vendors can use this technology to add value to existing services and applications, for example digital home audience measurement.
The funds raised will allow Qosmos to operate in the US and Asia, as well as accelerate DPI product development by introducing systems which can monitor protocol and IP application emergence continuously using high-speed and multi-core network processor technologies. The round was led by led by Sofinnova Partners, Alven Capital and GfK AG.
Thibaut Bechetoille, CEO of Qosmos, said: “This financing allows us to invest in the people and technologies that strengthen our position as a leader in the European market, as well as boost our presence worldwide.”
Sofinnova, an independent venture capital firm, Alven Capital a private equity firm and GfK AG, a global market research organisation, have highlighted the importance of this funding for IP network monitoring and surveillance, data protection and effective delivery of data statistics in real-time.
Bechetoille added: “The continued investment from Sofinnova Partners and the equity participation of Alven Capital and GfK AG underscore the relevance of our strategy and the solid growth potential of our solutions in the market of real-time extraction of business-critical information from networks, which will create an ever-increasing number of value-added applications for our customers.”
