Politecnico di Milano spins out wireless mesh network company

Spin-out formed

The Politecnico di Milano, Italy, has established a new spin-out company, Mobimesh srl, to develops innovative products and solutions for wireless mesh networking, a technology that allows the extension of traditional wireless access networks through so-called multihop relaying.

Mobimesh was founded by a group of researchers and professors together with Voismart , an industrial and commercial partner on the basis of the research carried out at ANTLab, the  Advanced Network Technologies Laboratory of Politecnico di Milano. The new company aims realise a turnover of nearly €1 million before the end of 2010.

Wireless mesh networks can be used wherever deploying a wired infrastructure is not possible or cost effective, for example in municipal wireless networks, temporary networks, historical buildings and protected areas.
