The Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, Germany, a privately financed university-level institute that offers studies in IT systems engineering, and Stanford University in California are to set up common research programme in Design Thinking.

The programme, which will be financed by the Germany institute, will look among other things at how the Design Thinking method is related to other ways of working in engineering and at how limitations imposed by separated development teams can be overcome.

The HPI has no tuition fees and is financed entirely through private funds donated by its founder, Professor Hasso Plattner, who co-founded the software giant SAP and is currently its active CEO.
