Computer science experts from Goldsmiths University in London and University College London (UCL) have initiated a project that will combine expertise from both universities in the field of creative computing to expand the creative possibilities of technologies such as virtual reality, computer graphics, scientific visualisation and human–computer interaction.

The project, founded  by Professor William Latham and Professor Frederic Fol Leymarie from Goldsmiths and by Professor Anthony Finkelstein and Dr Anthony Steed at UCL, will focus on art, architecture, design, music, computer games and cognitive science.

A key aspect of the project, beyond the expansion of the relationship between computer science and art, will be the application of new research into methods of archiving cultural history.

The founders hope that this cross-disciplinary partnership will instigate departmental collaborations and encourage individual academics to associate with others in joint research projects.
