Universities are invited to showcase their early-stage life science technologies to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries at the Bioversity event, pioneered by the University of Southampton, on Tuesday 9 December at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, London.

Bioversity will form part of the annual Genesis biotechnology conference, which is expected to attract more than 400 pharmaceutical industry delegates.

Sue Sundstrom of Southampton’s Research and Innovation Services said, “The concept behind Bioversity was to create a forum where industry and academia could come together. [….] While this initiative is being led by Southampton, the objective is to provide an opportunity to exhibit for all universities across the UK and Europe.”

Bioversity is designed by a steering committee made up of both industry and university representatives, with input from large and small pharmaceutical companies.

A member of the Bioversity steering committee, Rob Pinnock of Merck, said, “In an increasingly competitive market, we are always interested to learn about novel technologies. Universities including Cambridge, Imperial, Manchester, Warwick and Southampton have already signed up to exhibit.
