PerkinElmer has formed a partnership with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) to support the EMBL Advanced Training Centre in Heidelberg, Germany. PerkinElmer will sponsor the Centre and have access to the scientific training programmes, facilities, conferences and events there. The company will also provide advice on the Centre’s future conferences and programmes.

Professor Iain Mattaj, EMBL Director General, said: “Our organisation is delighted to have a partner of PerkinElmer’s calibre in promoting the mission of EMBL and supporting the aims of the Advanced Training Centre. This partnership is a significant milestone in our shared vision to create a central platform for training and exchange in molecular biology in Europe. We look forward to inaugurating the state-of-the-art Centre when it is completed in 2009.”

Richard M Eglen, PhD, President, Bio-discovery at PerkinElmer, said: “PerkinElmer is glad to participate in advancing one of the most active advanced training and conference centres in Europe for molecular and cellular sciences. International collaborations will be the key to future successes and breakthroughs in the field, and our work with EMBL toward this end is a very welcome step in this direction.”

This collaboration is part of the recently established EMBL Corporate Partnership Program, designed to create and enhance long-term, effective relationships between EMBL and top-tier corporate partners.
