Manchester professor scoops Jim Gray eScience Award

Carole Goble, a professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester, has won the inaugural Jim Gray eScience Award.

The award, made by Microsoft External Research, recognises the contributions of a researcher or scientist in the application of computing technology to scientific insight and innovation. It was established to honour the contribution of Jim Gray, former researcher and manager of Microsoft Research’s eScience Group, to this field.

Professor Goble received the award at the 2008 Microsoft eScience Workshop in Indianapolis, USA.
