Spin-out formed

The Polictecnico di Milan, Italy, has notched up a new spin-out. Resmon, a biotech company,  plans to develop and commercialise technologies emanating from research led by respiratory disease specialists and PhD students from the laboratory of biomedical technologies (TBMLab).

The company’s primary focus is the design and commercialisation of technologies that target the healthcare market. In particular, Resmon is looking to develop a home monitoring device for respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The company will be acting on the recommendation of leaders in the field of respiratory medicine, who highlight the importance of daily monitoring of chronic respiratory diseases. The idea is to reduce the symptoms and the frequency of hospital visits, as well as improving patient management and treatment regimes.

Resmon hopes that through making the monitoring devices widely available it will contribute to reducing healthcare system expenditure while improving patients’ quality of life.
