Development project
Vexim, a specialist in medical instruments for performing minimally invasive surgery, has received €8.8 million in funding from OSEO, the French state innovation agency, to lead a project to develop new ways of treating vertebral compression fractures.
The other partners in project are Biospace Med, the specialist in medical imaging applied to orthopaedics founded by Nobel prizewinner Georges Charpak, and the Laboratory of Biomechanics, part of the ParisTech institute ENSAM.
The ILI project aim at develop (i) an integrated software/imaging system for preparing the operating schedule and providing treatment support, (ii) surgical implants; and (iii) post-treatment analysis and patient follow-up tools.
Out of the total of €8.8 million in funding, €3.5 million is grant-in-aid and €5.3 million a repayable advance. Of this €6.1 million will go to Vexim as project leader.

The €8.8 million in funding will enable us to broaden the product range around our SpineJack implant – notably by developing novel analytical tools for improving the implant’s positioning before, during and after the surgery,” said Bruce de la Grange, Vexim’s Chairman and CEO.
