EU citizens look to solar and wind energy as innovations most likely to improve their lives

Over 87% of Europeans believe solar and wind energy innovations will have a positive effect on their lives in the next two decades, according to a new Eurobarometer survey.

Europeans also have high hopes for vaccines, with 86% of respondents saying they will have a positive impact in the next 20 years. Other innovations viewed as promising include nanotechnology and cognitive enhancement.

Overall, nine in ten EU citizens believe science and technology have a positive impact on their lives, and trust continues growing. Key areas where European believe science will make a difference are health and climate change, with 47% and 40% of respondents, respectively, naming these two.
