US and China the biggest partners in COVID-19 biomedical research collaborations

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) 2021 technology and innovation outlook shows the US and China were each other’s main collaborating partners in COVID-19 biomedical research, according to data on the PubMed biomedical literature search engine.

US-China collaboration represents 5.5% of all US publications on COVID-19 research.

The two countries are also among the major contributors to COVID-19 publications on PubMed, as seen in the graphic.

Other countries with a high level of involvement in international collaborations in COVID-19 research are the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, Canada and India. The graph below gives more detail on who collaborated with who.
