EUREKA is a leading open platform for international cooperation in innovation. As an intergovernmental network, it is present in over 40 countries and remains to this day the only initiative of its kind committed to the ‘bottom-up’ principle - ensuring that any R&D project with a good business plan receives the support it deserves, independent of its technological nature, or the type of organisations involved.
The EUREKA Secretariat, based in Brussels, acts as the central support unit for the network. With a strong team of 30, ESE manages the EUREKA project database and undertakes marketing, communications and network development activities.
The EUREKA Secretariat is also responsible for the implementation of the Eurostars programme. Eurostars is Joint Programme dedicated to the R&D-performing SMEs and is co-funded by the European Communities and 33 EUREKA member countries.
ESE is also responsible for the collection and dissemination of information on projects, and, in cooperation with the Chair and the National Offices, promotes the EUREKA philosophy.
