The European Innovation Council: Next Steps

A Science|Business Network Dinner (for members only)

Since the launch of its pilot phase in October 2017, the European Innovation Council has sparked heated debates about its mission, objectives and alignment with other innovation instruments in the EU portfolio. With the EIC scheduled to arrive in 2021 – featuring a “pathfinder” for new ideas, an “accelerator” for those that are closer to market, and a prospective budget of €10.5 billion – these are sure to intensify in the months to come. Who will get to participate and benefit? How will it function vis-à-vis the ERC and EIT? And after many years of European underperformance in technology commercialisation, is it going to make much of a difference?

This Science|Business Network dinner, with António Vicente, Head of Cabinet for Commissioner Moedas, will be a roundtable discussion of latest developments from the pilot phase and the EIC’s future prospects within Horizon Europe.
