Can universities bridge the gaps within Europe?

A high level Science|Business dinner-debate to discuss how higher education institutions can keep people, ideas and innovation moving across the EU – now and into the 2020s. What practical steps can Europe’s leading universities take to ensure academia, industry and NGOs continue to partner and collaborate - to be world-leading in science?

Topics for discussion will include:

  • University – business collaboration: how to ensure that universities’ R&D is focussed on what industry needs.
  • How to overcome regional disparities across European countries where “innovation cold spots” exist. What role
    for the EIC?
  • How to maintain the mobility of Europe’s most talented researchers and teachers to realise the true goals of
innovation, i.e. productivity leading to real improvements in wellbeing and living standards.
  • Many researchers are not focussed on delivering innovation per se. How do we recognise their work through greater public and policy engagement?
