The European Commission has released the latest figures tracking progress towards the creation of the European Research Area (ERA), 25-year-long effort to allow the seamless flow of academics, ideas and technology across the bloc.
The ERA is still very much a work in progress, with national borders hampering goals such as the free movement of academic pensions from one country to another. An act is currently being drafted up in Brussels to push this idea forward.
The newly released figures give some insight into which countries are working to advance the ERA project, and which aren’t.
