Sophia Becker is professor of sustainable mobility and transdisciplinary research methods at TU Berlin as well as research group leader for methods of transformative policy consulting at the Research Institute for Sustainability Helmholtz Center Potsdam, scientific coordinator of the Climate Change Center Berlin Brandenburg, and permanent member of the Federal Ministry of Transport’s expert advisory committee on climate protection in mobility. She currently heads the interdisciplinary junior research group “The Transport Transition as a Socio-Ecological Real-World Experiment (EXPERI)” at TU Berlin.
The main task of the independent Climate Advisory Board is to provide scientific support for monitoring the progress of Brandenburg’s climate plan. This involves regularly reviewing the progress made in achieving climate targets as well as further developing measures. The Climate Advisory Board is made up of five women and seven men. The members were appointed by the Brandenburg Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection on the recommendation of the relevant ministries. Their expertise spans all relevant sectors and fields of action covered by the climate plan, including energy, industry, heat transition, mobility, forestry and agriculture, circular economy and bioeconomy, land use, peatland protection, and municipal climate protection, as well as the social aspects of the energy transition and climate protection. The appointments are initially for three years until 31 July 2027.
