The Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery and the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Kragujevac in Serbia has now formalized a multi-year cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding.
”This agreement enables the deepening of cooperation both in the field of research and education of students and teachers”, says Professor Anders Franco-Cereceda, Head of the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery.
The Memorandum of Understanding applies to both research and education in the field of cardiovascular sciences, particularly in coagulation, hematology and clinical chemistry. One focus area is the research on cardiovascular status in aging patients with hemophilia.
The collaboration began through the joint Erasmus Plus program and continued with the appointment of Professor Jovan Antovićas visiting professor in hematology at the University of Kragujevac. Jovan Antović has held numerous lectures at the faculty in the past few years. The Faculty of Medical Sciences in Kragujevac is one of the best ranked faculties within clinical medicine in the region. The faculty has a substantial international cooperation and many young teachers and associates from the university has also been trained in the Karolinska Institutet’s laboratories in Stockholm.
The signing of the Memorandum on 12th February 2024 was attended by prof. dr Anders Franco-Cereceda, prof. dr Jovan Antović, Rector of the University of Kragujevac, Prof. Nenad Filipović, Ph.D., Danka Andonovska who represented the city of Kragujevac, director of the University of Clinical Center Kragujevac, prof. Dr. Slobodan Milisavljević, vice-deans, professors, teachers, associates and students. The signing was followed up by interviews on both local and national Serbian TV.
