The Executive Board of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) has appointed Esther Ras as Dean of the Faculty of Technology (FT).

Ras officially starts on 1 September 2020. She succeeds Gerard van Haarlem, who passed away this spring.

“Esther is someone with a clear vision on the tasks within the faculty. Thanks to her experience and connected-leadership style she will bring continuity to the development of the faculty”, says Huib de Jong, Chairman of the AUAS Executive Board. “This is very important as the faculty will be moving to the Conrad Building on the Amstel Campus in the near future”.

Esther Ras is no stranger to the AUAS. In October 2017 she started as a programme manager at the degree programmes Forensic Research and Applied Mathematics, both offered at FT. During this time she also a member of the faculty's management team, responsible for the Community of Practice portfolio which connects education, research and practice. Working in a Community of Practice is at the core of the faculty's vision on education and research. On behalf of the faculty, Ras also participates in the Steering Committee ‘Studying without Obstacles’ (Studeren zonder belemmering) and has been a member of the AUAS Education and Research Council. Prior to joining the AUAS, Ras worked as a lecturer, team manager and programme manager at Fontys University of Applied Sciences, ROC Amsterdam and Inholland University of Applied Sciences.
