TU Delft performing well in Seventh Framework Programme

08 Sep 2011 | Network Updates

This year’s evaluation of the EU's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) contained a ranking of subsidised educational institutions for the first time. The highest Dutch ranking in the Top 50 of institutions of higher education was achieved by TU Delft at number 14. In the overall ranking of more than 69,000 participants, TU Delft finished 24th.

About FP7

The aim of the Seventh Framework Programme, which runs from 2007 to 2013, is to better match the research policy of the European Union to its social and economic ambitions. The programme has a total budget of more than EUR 50 billion. Most of these monies are spent on grants to co-finance research, technological development and demonstration projects. One key aspect of the European added value is the transnationality of many actions: research projects are carried out by consortiums that include participants from various European (and other) countries.

Impact

The fourth EC report on the monitoring and implementation of FP7 describes the programme's impact. There were 245 calls, more than 77,000 proposals and over 312,000 participants. A new feature of this year's KP7 evaluation is the ranking of institutions of higher education that have received KP7 funding. Dutch organisations and institutions are ranked in the Top 3 regarding success rates of applicants for FP7 calls.
