Sustainable protein production: Technology Strategy Board collaborative R&D competition

Application deadline: 11 May 2011, noon
We are supporting the sustainable protein production collaborative call for research and development as part of the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Innovation Platform (SAF IP).

Summary

The competition opens on 4 April 2011 and will have two interrelated themes:
Increasing domestic supply of sustainably produce vegetable protein for farm animals (including land and marine based aquaculture)
Increasing production efficiency and sustainability of domestically supplied animal and fish proteins for food, reducing waste in the food chain to the point of retail sale.
Projects should be business-led and seek to develop new products and processes.

How to apply

Application is via the Technology Strategy Board website (see external links).

We encourage the academic community to participate in this competition, in collaboration with at least one UK based company.

Workshops

To facilitate interactions between communities, a series of one day consortium building workshops will be hosted by the Technology Strategy Board and the Bioscience KTN. These will provide a networking forum for potential participants to facilitate the development of project ideas.

11 February -  SAC, Edinburgh

15 February - Celtic Manor Hotel, Newport

17 February - PGRO, Peterborough

These events are free to attend, however registration via the '_connect' website is essential. For more details and registration information see external link.
