AIM listing

zamano, a mobile phone technology specialist started by students and lecturers at Dublin City University, has listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in London, raising €6million for 25 per cent of the equity and giving a market capitalisation of €24 million.

The company was set up in 2000 by Eoin O Ceallachain and Darren O Rodaigh to take advantage of a growing demand for mobile services. Former Dublin City University professor Finbarr Bradley was founding chairman of zamano, while Enterprise lecturer Seán Mac Réamoinn was the first CEO.

Since its establishment, zamano has developed a mobile messaging platform and suite of applications that is suited to both private users and companies.

Business-to-business accounts for approximately 65% of revenues; the remainder is generated by mobile content and interactive services for private customers. Interactive services include competitions, quizzes, horoscopes, chat and dating. zamano believes that strong future growth prospects exist for both services to businesses and customers.

Admission to AIM will raise the profile of the company and enable it to make acquisitions, increase investment in new technology and expand into new territories.
