ETH Zurich start-up seeks CHF100K for railway research

GeoNum GmbH, an ETH Zurich start-up, is seeking to raise CHF 100.000 to develop its project analysing soil dynamics on railways.

The company uses numerical models to solve geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering problems worldwide and is looking for partnership and financing to develop its numerical analysis methods in pilot projects.

“One of our projects is setting up a research project or proposal in the field of soil dynamics and vibration analysis due to railway traffic,” said Dr. Philippe Nater, one of the GeoNum partners.  “In this field we are looking for investors or contacts to get the project running and financed,” he added.

For this project GeoNum is looking for collaboration from a railway company as well as scientific partnership from a university. A project proposal has been drafted in collaboration with a Swiss engineering office: Trombik Engineers Ltd.

The company was set up by three former doctoral students from ETH’s Institute for Geotechnical Engineering in March 2006.
