Funding opportunity

The UK Technology Strategy Board has announced that it is to invest up to £30 million in coming months, in five new research and development competitions.

The competitions, scheduled to open in May and June, are designed to accelerate the development of new technologies in a wide range of technology areas and aim to reduce the carbon emissions produced by buildings; encourage the uptake of new technologies that will help an ageing population remain independent for longer; and increase the speed at which new innovations along the energy supply chain are able to enter the market, through smart metering and the development of smart grids.

The five competitions are: Building Performance Evaluation; Design for Future Climate; Nuclear Power Technology; Economic and Business Modelling and Social and Behavioural Studies; and Smart Meters and Smart Grids.

Further information about these competitions will be available on the competitions page of the Technology Strategy Board website: http://www.innovateuk.org. Alternatively, you can email [email protected], or call the Competitions Helpline on +44 300 321 4357.
