Reassurance follows suggestion that payment delays contributed to bankruptcy of EIT Manufacturing

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) says it is on track with funding for the 2026-28 activities of its knowledge and innovation communities (KICs), following accusations that payment delays contributed to EIT Manufacturing declaring bankruptcy in March.
“At this stage, we do not foresee any delays,” EIT spokesperson Bálint Linder told Science|Business. “The process is advancing as expected, with the remaining agreements to be finalised shortly.”
The KICs are Europe-wide networks that bring together higher education institutions, research centres, businesses, investors, public and non-profit organisations to address a specific societal challenge. Initially funded with money from the EU…
