Today, in response to economic and trade volatility and an increasingly zero-sum approach to technological competition, countries and customers are seeking greater reliability and resilience across technology providers and the services they deliver. At the same time, there is growing distrust of digital technologies in general and their potential negative impact on individuals and societies.

In this context, last Friday 13 February, at the Munich Security Conference, a group of 16 global technology providers came together to define and commit to a set of principles and attributes of a trusted technology stack.

Microsoft is proud to be a member of this Trusted Tech Alliance, alongside Ericsson, SAP, SAAB, NTT, Google, Cassava Technologies, Anthrophic, AWS, Cohere, Reliance/Jio Platforms, Rapidus Corporation, Nscale, Hanwha, ASML and Nokia.

In a volatile geopolitical environment that often hinders governments from working together to address these issues, it is critical that companies come together to address these concerns.

These principles are designed to assure governments and private sector customers that, regardless of the nationality of the supplier, companies in this alliance will adhere to a set of commitments to ensure trust and to pass on the benefits of the technologies they offer to the broader public.  These principles include:

  1. Transparent Corporate Governance and Ethical Conduct
  2. Operational Transparency, Secure Development, and Independent Assessment
  3. Robust Supply Chain and Security Oversight
  4. Open, Cooperative, Inclusive, and Resilient Digital Ecosystem
  5. Respect for Rule of Law and Data Protection
