This year’s work programmes will not come out for another few weeks causing “serious difficulties” for those chasing Horizon funding this year

The delayed adoption of Horizon Europe work programmes for 2025 will leave researchers overstretched and unable to apply to all the calls they are interested in, universities say.
The European Commission usually releases Horizon Europe work programmes before the new year to give researchers enough time to study the calls, their scope and budgets. But this year the process was delayed, because the 2025 work programmes must be approved by the new Commission, which only started its term in December.
The delay poses “serious difficulties” for universities and research organisations, says Nataša Jakominić Marot, head of research and innovation at the University of Rijeka in Croatia and a member of the Young European Research Universities Network’s policy platform.
The first calls are due to open in May, alongside a series of info days explaining their scope in detail. But…
