Record grant will allow Denmark’s BioInnovation Institute to scale up support for life science and deep tech innovation

The chief executive of Denmark’s BioInnovation Institute says a record grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation will allow it to scale up its support for life science and biotech start-ups, and to further expand into AI and quantum.
Earlier this month, the Novo Nordisk Foundation pledged up to DKK 5.5 billion (€736 million) to the institute from 2026 to 2035, the largest grant ever awarded by the foundation to a single recipient. It is also a significant increase on its previous commitment of €470 million from 2021 to 2030.
“The new grant follows a thorough evaluation of the BioInnovation Institute’s impact and is seen as a natural next step to build on its proven track record and support its expansion into new areas and geographies,” said a Novo Nordisk Foundation spokesperson.
