Support for 20 projects open to international cooperation comes as Japan and EU discuss deeper partnership on AI

The Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) has opened a call for research and innovation projects for AI in science, including funding aimed at boosting international cooperation.
The cooperation-driven call, which complements a call for strategic projects, will fund around 20 projects, each with an approximate budget of JPY 200 million , or a little over €1 million. But JST is open to extending this financing to as much as JPY 650 million per project.
The International/Convergence call, as JST calls it, will fund research in any field of science that helps advance tools for AI in science, including emerging and interdisciplinary projects.
