Cork: research deal with US partner

Research and development agreement

Alimentary Health Ltd of Cork, Ireland, has agreed an exclusive research and development agreement with the US company ConvaTec Inc, a manufacturer of ostomy and wound care products.

Under the terms of the agreement the two partners will both contribute their intellectual property and patented technologies to a research project expected to take place over the next 12 months. No further details were given.

Barry Kiely, CEO said the announcement is important to Alimentary Health because it provides the company with an opportunity to research alternative uses of its existing technology. “We are excited by the opportunity to partner with a company such as ConvaTec, whom have a reputation for outstanding patient care.”

Alimentary Health is a development-stage company focusing on the discovery, development and commercialisation of proprietary probiotic and pharmabiotic treatments for gastrointestinal disorders and other inflammatory conditions. The company is the foundation industry partner of the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Center based at University College Cork, Ireland.
