Pilot organisers pitch EU platform to connect companies with academic teams to solve discrete technological challenges

Collaborations between companies and universities are time-consuming and complicated to set up, and so tend to be reserved for major projects. But what about the little things? An EU-funded initiative has just finished testing a platform that brought together companies with discrete problems to solve and academic teams willing to co-create solutions in four to eight weeks. 

While more than half of the challenges submitted were marketing-related, others posed technological questions or asked for help finding alternative applications for existing technologies. 

For example, a bathroom equipment manufacturer asked for help finding a use for the aluminium oxide powder it produces as a byproduct, and was given options for developing value-added catalysts.
