Winbox closes financing round with TVM Capital

Winbox Technologies of Furtwangen, Germany, provider of television over the Internet , has announced the close of its first institutional equity financing round with lead investor TVM Capital of Munich and the angel entrepreneur Robert Schneider, founder and CEO of SCM Microsystems. The amount raised was not disclosed.

Schneider and TVM Capital’s General Partner Christian Claussen will join the company’s supervisory board.

“With the new company, shareholder and management structure we will further boost our ability to enable customers to build and deploy their own […] connected TV products,” said Christof Winker, CEO of Winbox.

“We strongly believe that a revolution in the TV and home-networking area is on its way and have therefore been scanning the space for a compelling investment opportunity for quite some time”, said Claussen. “Winbox offers investors an interesting combination consisting of an experienced, business savvy management team and a unique product roadmap strategy.”

“The team has recognised very early on that the implementation of proven IT standards will be key in driving the emerging TV 2.0 opportunity towards a mass market,” added Schneider.
