Grand Challenges Canada and the Science for Africa Foundation want to fund innovations that address the health impacts of climate change

A new global climate and health initiative is offering support to innovations that address the health impacts of climate change due to mosquito-borne infections, extreme heat and poor air quality in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Eligible innovations will either allow health actors to anticipate and respond to climate-related health threats, or strengthen local patient care delivery.
The Nexa initiative is led by two non-profit organisations, Grand Challenges Canada and the Science for Africa Foundation, and involves a global consortium of partners and funders including the Sanofi Foundation and the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
The call is for proof-of-concept funding of up to $200,000 per project, and between $250,000 and $2 million for transition-to-scale innovations, meaning approaches that have been proven to be effective and are ready to be implemented more widely. The funding will primarily take the form of…
