UK Technology Strategy Board looking for bids for £72M in new projects

Funding opportunity

The UK Technology Strategy Board has announced £72 million for ten new competitions in fields including photonics, high value manufacturing, intelligent transport systems, network security and energy generation and supply. The aim is to stimulate innovation and get businesses working with academics on projects that will lead directly new products and services.

The first three competitions, opening in November, are in: Photonics: Next Generation Optical Internet Access: Advanced Materials: Sustainable Materials and Products; and Intelligent Transport Systems and Services: Informed Personal Travel.

Phase Two, opening 19 January 2009 will focus on High Value Manufacturing; Energy Generation and Supply; Photonics: Next Generation Optical Internet Access; and Low Impact Buildings.

Phase Three will open on 16 March 2009 for bids in projects looking at how the Creative Industries can commercialise their content; Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Technologies and Network Security.
