The quoted technology commercialisation specialist Braveheart plc has made a follow-on investment of £150,000 in Traak Systems Ltd, a spin-out from Edinburgh University.

Traak was founded in late 2005 to develop radio frequency identification (RFID) and sensor-based services.  Its technology is relevant to large enterprises that want to maximise the business value of raw RFID and sensor network data.

Traak’s technology has previously received grant support from SMART:Scotland. The company has strong links with Edinburgh and other universities, and is working with partners including Motorola, Microsoft, and Oracle. The new round of funding will help the company further develop its core technology and explore new partnership opportunities.

Colin Balfour, CEO of Traak, said, “We are at an exciting point in Traak's development and have a number of opportunities open to us […] We are delighted to receive further support from Braveheart.”
