Vinnova and the Swedish Civil Defence and Recilience Agency have signed an agreement on a national innovation program for civil defence. The program aims to develop new innovative solutions that strengthen civil defence.

The agreement was signed by Darja Isaksson, director general of Vinnova and Mikael Frisell, director general of the Swedish Civil Defence Agency.

“Combining preparedness, civil defense and innovation is not just a security issue. It is a future issue for Sweden,” says Darja Isaksson, director general of Vinnova.

"By combining Vinnova's ability to reach out to innovative companies with our insight into the needs of civil defense, we build solutions that can truly protect the population when it matters" says Mikael Frisell, director general of the Swedish Civil Defense Agency.

Now begins a long-term collaboration to strengthen civil defense through new thinking and innovation. The national civil defense program is a three-year effort.

The first initiative starting this spring will be an open call for proposals dealing with the protection of the civilian population.
